Lasker:

Well, that really is a group of people that have discussions with Dr. Frederickson, who is the last director of the National Institutes of Health, and we just talk about policy questions. I don't really like to go to meetings unless I happen to contribute to deciding something. I don't like to go just to hear talk. But there are many people that I don't know that are on these committees, and sometimes you find somebody who is quite impressive, and I need new talent, so I'm interested in going to see who there is there that I might find as a great witness or a great ally of some kind.

Q:

And all of them being interested in...

Lasker:

The health field, yes. And I've also resigned from the board of Braniff because poor Braniff has come upon hard times due to the increase in the price of oil and to the recession in business. And now we have a controller's strike which will even hurt it further because there will be reductions in the numbers of flights. But I resigned last January. Formally I resigned on the first of May, but I already told them I didn't want to stand for reelection.

Q:

Your friends are still there, aren't they?

Lasker:

No, Mr. Harding Lawrence resigned on the first of January,
