Mrs. Lasker:

Well, it was called “The Health Syndicate, and it tried to describe our activities over the last, oh, few years, and really unfriendly and scurrilous manner.

Do you know the author?

Mrs. Lasker:

No. I spoke to the author on the telephone once and she said she wanted my opinion of health policies of the public Health Service or research policies of the PHS or something like that. no indication it was really largely about my efforts to get funds for medical research. I never saw it. She talked largely to Mike Gorman. Mike Gorman made a number of thought she was sympathetic and he was giving her background material, had no idea that she was going to quote him verbatim , which she did largely. She was misinformed about things, especially the extent of my husband's wealth, which is very embarrassing to me because it's very embarrassing to be thought much richer than one is.
