Gernon, Mr. Havens and Mr. Archer. After all I know them. Would you mind asking them to come in?”

She asked them to come. They came popping right in once they were asked. I said to each of them after a little talk, “Won't you send your principal people in? I'd like to see them.” I said to Archer, “I don't know all of the hearing examiners. I know a few. Would you ask them to come and call on me when they adjourn their calendars today? I would like to go around with you and see the calendars.”

There was still not a sign of another Commissioner to call upon me. It was their duty, obviously, to call upon me. Before the morning was over Mr. Henry Sayer dropped in to pay his call. We had a very pleasant talk. He told me what a good secretary this girl was. I asked him some very direct questions about when the Commission would meet, if there was a calendar, who made up the calendar of the Commission, how you could find out in advance what matters were now before the Commission, what was the unsettled or unfinished business before the Commission as a Commission, and so forth.

Mr. Sayer knew how the calendar was made. He said, “As to unfinished business, I don't think we've got any clear category. Things just sort of lap over.”
