in so-called executive session - that is, when we were not having public hearings - because of his information with regard to the kind and quality of poverty that was developing. What his people would strike were almost blighted areas where there were hundreds of families where nobody in the family had work or could get work. There would be other areas where although the natural breadwinner was out of work, there was work for mother and the girls. So they were only partly suffering. He was very clear in distinguishing between those types.
