Nevertheless, it's typical and it's accessible. It's not too far from Pittsburgh. I can get to Pittsburgh by train and it's not a long drive out to McKeesport. It seems to be a good place to go. It's a big mill. A lot of people work there.”

Well, he hemmed and hawed. He said, “Are you going to go to any other mills besides the United States Steel?”

I said, “Oh yes, indeed, I'm going to go to one of the Bethlehem Steel plants.”

“Have they agreed that you should go to one of their plants?”

I said, “Well, I haven't asked them yet. I asked you first, Mr. Taylor, but I shall certainly call up Mr. Grace and ask him to invite me. I'm asking you to invite me. I'm not going to butt in. I want you to invite me.”

Well, we talked about it. Finally he said he would have to talk with somebody. Anyhow, he talked with somebody and after about an hour he called me back. I forget just what the backs and forths were, but the upshot of it was that they said yes, but they wanted it clearly understood that it was their invitation. I said, “Oh yes, I perfectly clearly understand that it's at your invitation. That's just exactly what I want. I will bring only two companions with me. I want to bring an economist and I want to bring just someone else to go with me as sort of an escort to help me out on some
