distorted as to its meaning. So I changed the subject. I'm not sure who she was—probably the wife of some present Cabinet officer, or some military or naval aide, because they were there. General Harry Vaughan was there. He's the principal Military Aide, and that's part of the President's family. His Naval Aide was also there. There was also an aide from the Air Force.

Otherwise, Henry talked about his breeding. He talked about his two farms in Maine, somewhat north of me, and told me what they were doing in improving the market gardening program. I told him just how to get to my house from Augusta if he ever was there again. It was that kind of personal conversation. I don't think we talked about anything else that was serious.
