Can you bring I.L.O. right straight up to 1955?

No, I can't. I went in 1952--I went as a delegate. I've always kept in touch with it, and I'm still in touch with it in a way, but I haven't pretended to know what the agenda is.

What I wanted to point out was about this meeting in Philadelphia and a later meeting of the governing body in Quebec. Was that meeting of the governing body in Quebec just after the War had ended? I guess it was--or right after VE Day was over-- because, to our astonishment and delight, Leon Jouhaux appeared at the Quebec meeting.

I've known Jouhaux for years. Jouhaux had been in prison. He had been first in hiding, and then he had been in prison. He was in prison way over-- he got taken over to a castle in the area around Kitz in Austria. He was plumped in there. He was in the same prison that Paul Reynaud and other French Government people were in. Also, John G. Winant's son was captured, you know --military prisoner--and he was put here. He was supposed to be very important because his father was Ambassador to Great Britain, you see.
