the right, and I think the Cabinet were all in there. The other path on the other side had people from the Village and people who worked on the place, and a number of old friends. There wasn't a great crowd there, you see. It was a relatively small company who gathered there.

Because they were not admitted, or didn't know it was happening at that time, or what?

Well, I don't know. I don't think that there was any refusal to admit anybody who came. I think anybody who came was admitted. The people from the village came-- I mean, there were a lot of people from the town, you see, whom I only know either by sight or guessed who they were, and they filled in. But there was no great crowd. The people who came from Washington were the Cabinet and the Congressional delegation, and there were a few people up from New York like Jim Farley and people like that. Jim came, and a number of political friends--a great many political friends. But even so, there wasn't a big company, do you know? Not too big for that enclosure, which is really fairly small. And there were people out in the drive and out in the outer grounds, but I suppose that some effort had been made to keep it fairly small, and I'm not sure that the hour of the funeral had ever been actually announced.
