Father Anthony, who was the priest in charge at St. James's Church, the local church, conducted the service. Now, he was not the rector of the church. The rector was in military service as a chaplain, Father Anthony was an old man who had retired--I mean, he was over seventy. He wore a big heavy cape over his vestments, over his surplice and stole, a heavy clergy cape, and I noticed very carefully that he was taking good care of himself. He had on big heavy overshoes, which was very important, you see, for a clergyman-on a wet day in the spring. This big cape kept him warm, and I think he had on some kind of jacket or sweater underneath his surplice. It looked to me as if he did. He was warmly clad.
