somewhere. But it was only by sort of offhand information, reports that leaked out. The real horrors of the concentration camps, and the real horror of what had been done to the Jews, was just beginning to come out in the last three or four weeks. I don't remember when they began to overrun it.

Do you remember one of the first pictures that came out, showing an American who was rescued from one of those camps lying on a bunk? He was literally nothing but skin and bones. I saw recently a then-and-now picture of him, and he's an adjusted human being, all filled out and happy apparently. His teeth are no good.

Well, I say forgotten it--when you say to a person, “oh, forget it,” you mean push it out of your mind. Was he a Jew, who was caught there?

Yes, I guess he was.

But anyhow, that was it. I remember, of course, plainly the original pictures we got in the I.L.O. about
