INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY at the American Association for the Advancement of
Science (AAAS)
The Program:
Based within the AAAS Directorate for Science & Policy Programs, the Center
for Science, Technology, and Congress (http://www.aaas.org/spp/cstc
<http://www.aaas.org/spp/cstc> ) conducts an integrated program of
activities designed to provide timely, objective information to Members of
Congress and their staff on current science and technology issues.
The Internship:
The Center is currently seeking a qualified college junior, senior or recent
graduate to intern with the program. Activities will include writing
articles for our monthly newsletter, Science and Technology in Congress, and
assisting with other publications and activities, such as congressional
briefings.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn about science and technology
policy, and to gain experience working with Congress and legislative issues.
This is a full-time, temporary position for up to six months, at a salary of
$8.00 per hour, to begin in January of 2001.
Requirements:
* An interest in the intersection of science, technology, and public
policy.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Strong academic background. All majors will be considered, with
priority given to the natural and social sciences, and engineering.
* Computer word processing experience is necessary. Familiarity with
the Internet, HTML, database management, and desktop publishing is
desirable.
