Welcome to the new home of the Science & Technology Network. We are a student group registered with the School of International & Public Affairs of Columbia University. Our goal is to bring together students from the various concentrations within SIPA, and hopefully others in Columbia University with shared interests in Science and Technology. The primary benefits of this will come from the exchange of information about new technologies, market trends, research projects, job and internship opportunities, and announcements of events going on around campus or elsewhere in New York. We also hope to begin organizing discussions and lectures ourselves, inviting speakers from Columbia and elsewhere to share their knowledge and views on issues specific to their field.

Recent News:

December 7th - There is an important upcoming event, the Science & Technology Career Panel on December 12th from 6-8pm in room 418 of the International Affairs Building. Don't miss it. Also, the STN Events list has been rebuilt after the database was lost in a hardware crash. If you did not receive a message today from the list, your address may not have been included in the rebuild, please subscribe to the event list again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

October 19th - On Tuesday, October 17th, STN had its first meeting. Read about our first meeting here. The Events section now includes the Event List Archive, and the Job & Internship Archive both which will be updated about once per week.

October 10th - Today the SIPA Science & Technology Policy concentration held there first meeting, discussing plans for the development of the concentration, future events, and introducing the new Science & Technology Network student group. More information can now be found in the events page.

October 1st - Information about joining the mailing list and the online contact page has been added but all other links are still dead. The mailing list has been tested and is up and running so feel free to join. Also, the STN email address is also up and running so you may send email, ask questions, etc. by sending us a note at [email protected] if you don't want to do so directly from our contact page.

September 25th - The Science & Technology Network has just started but we hope to have a functional web site within the next two weeks. We will soon be organizing our first meeting where we can further refine the goals of the group, elect officers, and begin planning for the academic year ahead. No links are hot yet. As founders of the group two of us have appointed ourselves interim co-chairs during this early organizational stage. We are Valentina Van der dys ([email protected]) and Konrad Lawson ([email protected]), both first-year students of SIPA concentrating in Science & Technology Policy.
