Getting Ready: fav-bait
/ special performance by artist Marisa Olson
Tuesday, April 22, 8 p.m.
Free and open to the public

"Getting Ready: fav-bait" hones in on 'fav-bait,' a typically dismissive term for social media content shared with the presumed intention of generating user 'favorites' or 'Likes.' The term sidesteps the content of the posting to focus on the superstructure of audience relations. Olson's performance will humorously draw a formal prelude to IRL fav-bait.

The larger "Getting Ready" series, which launches with this event, invokes the anxiety of preparation for social engagement while visualizing an infrastructure for public exchange wherein the embellished form nearly outshines the content.

Marisa Olson's interdisciplinary work encompasses Postinternet Art (a movement she framed in 2006), feminism, and her abiding research interests in the cultural history of technology and the politics of participation in pop culture.

This event follows the opening reception of HYPER-RESEMBLANCES that begins at 6 p.m.

Friday, April 25, 4–5 p.m.
Free and open to the public

Exhibition curators Alison Coplan, Heidi Hirschl, and Kathleen Langjahr lead an exhibition tour of the three-part exhibition.
