LATYNE. Latinus, king of Latium, promised his daughter Lavinia to Aeneas although she was already betrothed to Turnus. He made this betrothal part of the treaty he signed with the Trojans when they arrived in Italy (Aeneid VII.45-285; XII).

King Latyne with his treaty is engraved on the walls of the temple of glass, HF I.453. [Eneas: Laveyne: Turnus]

Latyne, ME contraction of Latin Latinus, appears in medial position.
