ATCA: Alien Tort Claims Act, adopted in 1789 as part of the original
Judiciary Act. In its original form, it made no assertion about
legal rights; it simply asserted that "[t]he district courts
shall have original jurisdiction of any civil action by an alien
for a tort only, committed in violation of the law of nations or
a treaty of the United States
EA: Environmental Assessment. Planning, analysis and risk management
planning documentation prepared for the oil and pipeline project
based on World Bank criteria.
ICCPR: International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (international
human rights treaty)
ICESR: International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural
Rights. International human rights treaty.
IMF: International Monetary Fund. Assists governments in their
macro economic and international financial capital flows.
RMP: Revenue Management Plan. Document prepared by the government
of Chad to guide and administer the distribution of oil revenues.
