Sehr geehrter Herr Doktor!

In Ihrer gefl.

in vorzüglicher Hochachtung
[ sign’d: ] J. G. Cotta’sche Buchhdlg Nachf.

Dear Doctor,

In your est’d communication of the 1st inst,1 you express the wish to be free of the first half-volume of vol. II of your work by the Summer. Should this still be your wish, we would be grateful if you would kindly let us have forthwith by return of post all of the manuscript that is still outstanding. We have in mind with this the Title-page, Foreword, Table of Contents, together with any supplements, etc.2

In addition, we would be obliged {2} if you would supply us with a few lines describing the [book’s] contents, to serve as the basis for an announcement of the half-volume to be produced in the near future (in a circular letter to book dealers).3 — As agreed, we will also draw attention again to vol. I in our announcement.

In thanking you in advance for your est’d endeavors, we remain

with kindest regards,
[ sign’d: ] Heirs of the J. G. Cotta Bookdealership
