Handwritten letter from Schenker to Hertzka (UE), dated June 10, 1910

Sehr geehrter Herr Direktor !

Hochachtung
Ir ergb

Dear Director,

The fine weather must takes its share of the blame, and more pupils are already leaving town than I was expecting. As a result, I am getting on with the work, and will send you by the 15th of the month at the latest the first batch,1 comprising music + elucidations just of the Fantasy. And at the beginning of the week after next, around the 20th of the month, I may perhaps be able to produce the Fugue: music + text.

If the printers were free, it might perhaps be possible, in view of the fact that the first batch has only a few corrections, for the second proofs to be made in the meantime, while I am correcting the Fugue. If everything goes smoothly, I imagine it is possible we will have it all done by the {2} end of the month, including the imprimatur. At least, for my part I will work so hard to make it possible for me to arrive at the imprimatur stage, and could return to you the many editions.

With kind regards,
Yours truly,
[ sign’d: ] H. Schenker
