Handwritten postcard from Schenker to Jonas, dated April 19, 1931 {recto} [Sender:] Schenker, Vienna [To:] Dr. Oswald Jonas [postmark:] || 3 WIEN 40 | 20 III. 31. 10 | [illeg] ||1 [message continues here: see below] {verso} Many thanks for your cordial message.2 I wrote to Dr. Weisse3 at the time that the collection of essays, however well-meant on all sides, would come too early . . . the particular sum “1000 marks” would be better used for new works by me; (I speak of this because I assume that Dr. Weisse informed you ahead of time that he had in mind a “subscription”). Nevertheless, I have included for Dr. Weisse a slip of paper for you, on which I have itemized the publications in which I wrote at that time—naturally only a selection should be chosen.4 {recto} To the publications named there, please add Kunstwart of Munich.5 With best wishes for your successes (including with Einstein?6), greetings from Yours, © Translation John Rothgeb 2006. |
