Sehr geehrter Herr Director!

Hier ein kurzes Verzeichnis einiger Herren, an die die Ornamentik zu senden von Nutzen wäre:

In Wien:

1. das "Archiv", (über ausdrückliches Ersuchen Dr. Mandyczewsky's|1)

3. Prof. M. Violin,3 der an Stelle Peter's|4 ^im Conservatorium^ die Ausbildungsklasse übernimmt, XIV, Sechshauserstr., 126

4. Herr Director Löwe|5
5. [Herr] Hfk. Schalk|6
[ to right of 4. and 5.: ] als guten Freunden,

6. [Herr] Förster (Mann der Förster-Lauterer)7, der selbst Unterricht in den besten Kreisen ertheilt u. ein starker Anhänger von mir ist, XIII., [ rest of address cut off or not entered? ]

{2} Ins Ausland:

7. Dr. K. Grunsky,8 Adresse laut vorletzten Brief.

8. Prof. Ernst Rudorff,9 Grosslichterfelde (bei Berlin) Wilhelmstr. 26 Mitglied des Senats an der Kg. Hochschule, Herausgeber des Urtextes u.s.w.)

9. Herrn D'Albert|10 : Meina, am Lago maggiore

10. Herrn Prof. Röntgen|11 : Amsterdam u.s.w.

11. Herrn Dozenten Dr. Max Burckhard,12 ^Berlin^ (am besten per Adresse der Lessman'schen "Allgem. Musikzeitung" in Charlottenburg)

12. Dr. Walter Niemann|13 ( Leipzig ) per Adresse : Verlag Kahnt in Leipzig

13. Hrn. Königlichen Professor Ludwig Mosbacher|14 in Nürnberg

u. nun ad libitum, u. doch sicher wünschenswert:

Hochachtungsvoll ergeben

Dear Director,

Here is a short list of some gentlemen to whom it would be advantageous to send the Ornamentik:

In Vienna:

1. the "Archive" (at the express request of Dr. Mandyczewsky1)

2. Prof. Jakob Fischer|2 (Conservatory, or Oetzeltgasse), who was of great service in getting the first edition known;

3. Prof. M. Violin,3 who takes over the training class at the Conservatory in place of Peters|4, XIV, Sechshauserstraße, 126

4. Director Löwe5
5. Hofkapellmeister Schalk6
[ to right of 4. and 5.: ] good friends of mine,

6. Mr. Förster (husband of the Förster-Lauterer),7 who himself gives lessons in the best circles, and is a strong supporter of mine, XIII., [ rest of address cut off? ]

{2} To other countries:

7. Dr. K. Grunsky|8, address as per my last-but-one letter.

8. Prof. Ernst Rudorff,9 Grosslichterfelde (nr. Berlin) Wilhelmstr. 26 Member of the Senate of the Royal Hochschule, editor of the Urtext edition etc.)

9. Mr. D'Albert:10 Meina, on Lago maggiore

10. Prof. Röntgen:11 Amsterdam etc.

11. Dr. Max Burckhard,12 lecturer, Berlin (best via the address of Lessman’s Allgemeine Musikzeitung in Charlottenburg)

12. Dr. Walter Niemann|13 (Leipzig) via address: Kahnt publishing house in Leipzig

13. Royal Professor Ludwig Mosbacher|14 in Nürnberg

And now optional, but nonetheless desirable:

14. Mrs. Sonja Davydoff|15 in Petersburg, Katharinenkanal 101, (wife of the famous tenor, pupil of mine, first-class concert pianist in Russia, who does a lot for me.)

15. Miss Marianne Kahn,16 (pupil of {3} mine, who teaches a lot herself), XIX, Hauptstr. 70.

etc.17

I would be indebted to you if you would write to me round about the time that the copies for Prof. Burckhard (No.11 above) and Mrs. Davydoff (No.14) are going off, since I should like to pen a few lines to these recipients just before that time.18

It occurs to me that the concert season—the big one with orchestra—does not begin until November; consequently October will still be a very propitious time for the Table [of Instrumentation] to appear.

With many thanks,
and kind regards,
Yours truly,
[ sign'd: ] Dr. H. Schenker
