Handwritten letter from Schenker to Emil Hertzka (UE), dated August 26, 1908

26.8.08.

Sehr geehrter Herr Director!

Hochachtung

Handwritten letter from Schenker to Emil Hertzka (UE), dated August 26, 1908

August 26, 1908

Dear Director,

The remedy that you yourself came up with in your est’d letter of yesterday seems to me absolutely excellent. All that remains now is a question of conscience. I myself am at pains[?] always to offer the reader the best that my knowledge and the truth have to offer, less perhaps out of regard for the reader than in fulfillment of the subject matter itself—but whether the publishing house will see things in the same light will depend on the cost of the page to be added, and that I do not know how to gauge, etc. In other words, I would be for correcting by means of the [correction] page.

In thanking you for kindly sending the three additional copies, may I enquire whether you received my letter, which, at your instigation,1 tried to list some places to which Ornamentik might be sent?2 Does the publishing house not want to do this, or is the time not yet ripe? Needless to say, it is not essential. With kind regards,

[ sign'd: ] H. Schenker
