Designing or Selecting Affective, Social-Emotional, Personality and Behavioral Assessments in User Paths

Chapter 9 dealt with the design or selection of assessment tools for constructs measured in User Paths 2-6. Assuming we start with an appropriately specified construct domain, Chapter 9 reviewed the core tasks in the four phase process model, using two case study examples (Case Study 9.1 and 9.2). The case studies demonstrated instrument design tied to User Paths 2 and 3, respectively. Both applications were in low stakes decision-making contexts. Case Study 9.1 illustrated the procedures used to design a self-report survey for determining teacher training needs in User Path 2. Case Study 9.2 dealt with the design of an interview-based screening tool for assessing “Subjective Well-being” in adolescents in User Path 3 (or 4). Both applications illustrated the use of the FORM IV Assessment Specification, during the planning phase of the process model.
