Ru freemanAdjunct Assistant ProfessorRu Freeman's creative and political writing has appeared internationally in English and in translation into Sinhala and Farsi. She is the author of the novels A Disobedient Girl (Atria, Simon & Schuster, 2009), which was translated into seven languages including Italian, Hebrew, and Chinese, and long-listed for the DCS South Asian Literary Prize, and On Sal Mal Lane (Graywolf Press, 2013), which will also be translated into multiple languages. Her creative writing has appeared in VQR, Guernica, and World Literature Today, among others, and has been nominated for the Best New American Voices anthology. She blogs for the Huffington Post on literature and politics, is a contributing editorial board member of the Asian American Literary Review, and has been a fellow of the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference, Yaddo and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. |
