STUDENT GROUP EVENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. Engineering Student Council Partnership Network
The Engineering Student Council Partnership Network was created in Fall 2005 to facilitate collaboration between engineering-related student groups, as well as provide support for these groups from the ESC to complement existing support from the various governing boards (ABC, SGB, CI, CSGB, IGC). There is currently an effort to revive the ESC Partnership Network, beginning with a compilation of resources to assist group leaders, and potentially a reception or other large meeting with all groups participating in the network.
The ESC is currently seeking input from engineering student groups regarding what resources would be most useful in the successful operation and management of these clubs. All suggestions and interested groups should contact the ESC Vice President, Intergroup, Dan Wong.

2. 5th Annual Relay for Life
What: Relay For Life at Columbia University
When: Saturday April 12th, 2008
Time: 12pm Noon to 3am
Where: Low Plaza and the entire center of campus
So, talk to your group! We?re aiming to have every organization represented on April 12th. To form your team, select a team captain
and register at events.cancer.org/RFLcolumbiauniversityNY. Then, recruit members from your club to join you in the fight against
cancer. We would love to have your group join us this year in another amazing event with live performances, on-site activities, and amazing prizes.
Here is how to do it:

2) SIGN UP as either a team captain or join an existing team
3) Join us at Relay for Life on April 12th for tons of fun and great memories
This year, Columbia will be hosting a Monopoly themed relay, in which we encourage all teams to come out in their "boardwalk best" to
celebrate, remember, and fight back. So go get all your friends together and form a team for a great cause.

3. Yearbook Photos Needed!
The 2008 Columbian Yearbook is looking for club photos of recognized student groups for the Organizations section of this year's book. We would like to have one 'group shot' and at least one 'candid shot' of some exciting event from this year to put in the book. These photos can be ones that you submit to us, or we have photographers who can come to events or meetings to take the photos. IN ORDER TO BE REPRESENTED IN THE BOOK, WE NEED THESE PHOTOS ASAP! Our deadlines have been changed and this section will be submitted much sooner than anticipated.
If you already have photos you'd like to submit, please submit them to CUyearbookphotos@gmail.com. Please include your club name in the email. If you need a staff photographer to come take a photo, please contact Cliff Massey directly.

4. Take part in COLUMBIA COMMUNITY OUTREACH 2008!
Want to escape the endless cycle of the library, class, and the mirror? Want to make a difference? Lend a hand to your fellow New Yorkers on March 29 by participating in Columbia's annual day of community service, CCO.
CCO is a single day event that involves almost 1,000 members of the Columbia community. Old friends come together and new friends are made as teams of students venture out into the city and give back to the community that gives so much to us. Plus, you can also count on free food, free t-shirts and a memorable experience.

5. CU Gospel Choir - Musicians and Singers wanted!
CUGC is looking for musicians to form a band. So if you play the piano, guitar or any brass instrument please contact Sean Peters.
We are also inviting everyone interested in singing gospel music to join. We strongly encourage tenors and basses to try out.
The repertoire for this semester includes Spirituals, contemporary and traditional gospel pieces by popular gospel artists. Anyone who is interested should contact Tareva Johnson or come to one of our weekly rehearsals:

6. Russian International Association Movie Night
MOVIE NIGHT, Thursday, February 28, 2008 @ 7
Film: "Twelve." 12 is a new film by Nikita Mikhalkov. The film was presented at the Venice Film Festival, where Mikhalkov was awarded the Special Lion for Overall Work. 12 is currently nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Does your student group want to generate interest from members of the newly admitted Class of 2012 before they even arrive on campus? TheDays on Campus Student Activities Fair is the time do it!!
Days on Campus (DOC) is a program hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for the newly admitted Class of 2012. It is an opportunity for the entire Columbia community to celebrate the admission of these students as they make their final decisions in the college selection process. As student activity leaders, you are crucial to the Columbia undergraduate experience, and so we invite you to join us in welcoming our newly admitted students to campus.

13. Columbia Science Review Call for Articles
Columbia Science Review is a science publication that is printed once a semester with the goal to promote awareness and knowledge of science and technology. This vision may sound very broad for a student group to achieve, but CSR presents unique opportunities for student authors from Columbia University and its affiliate institutes. The background of the authors vary from 1st year undergraduate students to advanced students in Graduate School of Arts and Science, School of Journalism, and Columbia University Medical Center.
CSR is an open platform (meaning we accept articles on any topic related to math and science!) for student authors to present scientific articles written in an easily accessible and concise style with precise scientific integrity in content. Articles should be written in easy language so that minimal background knowledge is needed to understand them, especially because CSR is meant to be read by all Columbia community members from students to faculty members, humanities majors to astrophysicists.
The final deadline for articles for Columbia Science Review's Spring 2008 issue is March 30th. Articles can be about a range of topics, but must be related to math or science in some way and written for the general public. Please check our website for more details, or email us with any questions.

The ABC Community Development Fund was created to foster innovative new events that promote collaboration and community at Columbia. Through the Community Development Fund, ABC will fund up to $3,000 of the chosen event(s). The Fund is open to all ABC groups. Funds will be awarded on a rolling basis. The deadline to submit is 11:59pm on Sunday, February 24, 2008.

The Office of the University Chaplain Co-Sponsorship Fund is accepting applications for co-sponsorship from recognized student groups for programs taking place during spring 2008. The deadline for application submission is 5pm, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22. Recognized Barnard and Columbia University undergraduate, graduate, and professional student groups are encouraged to apply.
Priority will be given to new initiatives that focus upon issues of faith and spirituality by recognized student groups. 1. Engineering Student Council Partnership Network
The Engineering Student Council Partnership Network was created in Fall 2005 to facilitate collaboration between engineering-related student groups, as well as provide support for these groups from the ESC to complement existing support from the various governing boards (ABC, SGB, CI, CSGB, IGC). There is currently an effort to revive the ESC Partnership Network, beginning with a compilation of resources to assist group leaders, and potentially a reception or other large meeting with all groups participating in the network.
The ESC is currently seeking input from engineering student groups regarding what resources would be most useful in the successful operation and management of these clubs. All suggestions and interested groups should contact the ESC Vice President, Intergroup, Dan Wong.

What: Relay For Life at Columbia University
When: Saturday April 12th, 2008
Time: 12pm Noon to 3am
Where: Low Plaza and the entire center of campus
So, talk to your group! We?re aiming to have every organization represented on April 12th. To form your team, select a team captain and register. Then, recruit members from your club to join you in the fight against cancer. We would love to have your group join us this year in another amazing event with live performances, on-site activities, and amazing prizes.

10. Barnard Clay Collective
Did you know Barnard has its own clay studio?
We have spots available classes for beginners and people with experience on the wheel.
There are (not for credit, just for fun) weekly classes on Tuesday OR Wednesday nights. You either attend the Tuesday or Wednesday class every week. The studio is located in the basement of Plimpton Hall (on the corner of 120th and Amsterdam).
Beginners: Tuesday 6:00-7:30pm OR Wednesday 6:00-7:30pm
Intermediates: Tuesday 7:30-9:00pm OR Wednesday 7:30-9:00pm
The cost of the class is $150 for students, including all materials (clay and firing included). Since we are a collective, each studio member is also asked to contribute some time to cleanup and maintenance of the studio.
**People enrolled in a class have 24 hour access to the studio**

As you may now, Naach Nation is an intercollegiate dance showcase hosted by Taal, the South Asian Fusion Dance Troupe of Columbia University. This year, the show will be held on Saturday, March 1st. The Organizational Committee has decided to add an extended lobby area for patrons to wander around in before the show starts. I am writing to you to extend an opportunity to table in the lobby area.
I think it would be a great way to promote any upcoming events and the club in general, free of charge. If this sounds like something you and your organization might be interested in, please let me know by Thursday, February 21st.

As you may now, Naach Nation is an intercollegiate dance showcase hosted by Taal, the South Asian Fusion Dance Troupe of Columbia University. This year, the show will be held on Saturday, March 1st. The Organizational Committee has decided to add an extended lobby area for patrons to wander around in before the show starts. I am writing to you to extend an opportunity to table in the lobby area.

The Engineering Student Council Partnership Network was created in Fall 2005 to facilitate collaboration between engineering-related student groups, as well as provide support for these groups from the ESC to complement existing support from the various governing boards (ABC, SGB, CI, CSGB, IGC). There is currently an effort to revive the ESC Partnership Network, beginning with a compilation of resources to assist group leaders, and potentially a reception or other large meeting with all groups participating in the network.

At National Taiwan University, Professor Wang is the Director of the Center for Corporate and Financial Law. He earned his J.S.D. at Stanford Law School and his Master of Law at Columbia Law School. Professor Wang also worked at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York.

What: Relay For Life at Columbia University
When: Saturday April 12th, 2008

Where: Low Plaza and the entire center of campus
So, talk to your group! We?re aiming to have every organization represented on April 12th. To form your team, select a team captain and register. Then, recruit members from your club to join you in the fight against cancer. We would love to have your group join us this year in another amazing event with live performances, on-site activities, and amazing prizes.

3) Join us at Relay for Life on April 12th for tons of fun and great memories
