CSC's general body, or g-body, is the soul of each event. G-body members are people who we engage with on campus. For people who want to stay up-to-date with all the club's happenings and learn about related off-campus events, subscribe to our mailing list here. There is no obligation to attend every event and there is no application process to join g-body. This year, our goal is to mobilize our g-body even more and make sure whatever commitment level you choose, we all feel a part of a tight-knit community.
Think of your Connect Pod as a Chinese culturally-oriented friend group you will have throughout the
school year. Each pod is around 5-6 people and is headed by 'parents,' usually two juniors or seniors at
Columbia, but are not necessarily a part of CSC's board. Anyone is welcomed to sign-up to be in a Connect
Pod; the only requirements are a desire to meet new friends at Connect events and an interest in Chinese
culture. Pods typically will meet together once a week (once a mutual time is decided) to do either
structured or unstructured activities, such as a virtual meal-time, movie-screening, or just enjoying each
other's company.
To join, you will need to fill out an interest form (to be released). No one will be turned away! Pods
will then be formed by shared interests and commitments. Though your pod is your main hub, there will be
opportunities to hangout with other families too!
Connect Pods are organized by CSC's board but are considered separate from CSC's g-body and board
members.
Community Leaders (CLs) are a new addition to the larger CSC structure this year. CLs are a non-board position that is focused on event-planning for the CSC community. Their key responsibilities include attending biweekly meetings to plan events closely with e-board, organizing Connect Pod events, and beyond.
We are looking for Organizational Committee Members (OCMs) to join the board of Chinese Students Club (CSC)!
OCMs are first-year board members of CSC. OCMs assist Executive Committee Members (ECMs, second-year
members) and our Executive Board (E-board, elected third-year leadership) by helping plan some of the
largest cultural events on Columbia campus, facilitating Chinese language/cultural learning experiences, and
raising awareness for Chinese and AAPI causes. At the same time, OCMs have the chance to build friendships
with CSC's senior advisors (fourth-year members) as well as our alumni network. Board members typically stay
with the club for 3-4 years as they rise the ranks.
Being a board member is a large commitment, but it is not the only way to get involved with
CSC! Please see our FAQs about general body membership and Connect
families.
Our recruitment process for new OCMs begins early September 2020 It is open to all Columbia undergraduates (CC, SEAS, GS, Barnard). It consists of a short application and two rounds of interviews.
We are looking for undergraduates who are...
There is no 'model candidate'--we really are looking for students willing to put in the time and effort to put on the amazing events that CSC is known for.
