life. This I don't understand. I really don't quite understand why the American people are more resistant to change in the area of education than in other areas of life, including even vocation and occupation.

Q:

That's where you might expect that to be less, in the case of vocational training, wouldn't you?

Clark:

Yes.

Q:

Incidentally, how well did you know Gunnar Myrdal?

Clark:

I worked with him.

Q:

You may have mentioned this earlier but I want to make sure we've got it in.

Clark:

I was a graduate student at Columbia and Otto Kleinberg who worked with him, introduced me to him. I was a research assistant, and then since then we've been friends. The year he received his Nobel Prize we had a joint seminar at City College, City University. I got to know him quite well.

And his wife too?
