financially. We were getting money from the city, and we were getting money from the federal government on a special project. We were getting adequate private money for our budget. And it was planned that we would move and expand. That was the reason why this facility was designed in this way. However, as you very well know, the financial crisis hit us in the year that we moved here, and we were bately in here before the city -- the whole structure of the city began to crumble. And so that meant that, last year, we were cut in ourpublic funds, and we didn't get nearly as many private contributions. It's very tight. And we began to have cash flow problems. So we couldn't, actually we not only could not expand, but we had to cut staff. We had to make a 15 percent reduction in our staff.

Q:

Do you actually have to turn children away now when they're referred to you?

Clark:

Oh yes. We have a waiting list. We always have a waiting list. No We can't handle all the children that are referred.

Q:

Could you go into a little more detail, how you expanded the financing of Northside Center?

Clark:

In the beginning?

Q:

Yes.

Clark:

Well, it became apparent, after we had this deluge of parents with children in the public schools, that we could not base this facility on a volunteer basis, because people would be ill,
