leaving [laughter]. By this time, the chairlady and I and the various other Trustees had gotten pretty tired of Ed Blaustein [laughter]. We said: “Oh, no. You've made up your mind, I'm sure you've made it right.” And you know, he's still there.
At Rutgers.
At Rutgers. Bloustein is still there. We had a search committee, and I was on the search committee. And we interviewed--
What didn't you like about him?
[pause]. I hate to say--that he was a lawyer [laughter], and that had something to do--I don't know. I don't think his heart was really in it, and I can't say that I blame him. That's a tough job: Bennington is a long way from anywhere. You live within this community, constantly seeing each other and practically nothing else--even though Williams is only 12 miles away. By this time, it's slightly co-educational, but not very. Anyway, he left, and we had the search committee. And we saw a number of people, and we got the list narrowed down to three. And for some reason or the other, I and various other people thought it would be a great thing--I suppose in part because of it being so far away--if we got sort of a couple, president, vice-president.
What do you mean a couple, a man and a wife?
