What about the analysis of the Bay of Pigs after the fact?

Heiskell:

I'm not aware of it.

Q:

Did he have a very low tolerance for being criticized?

Heiskell:

Very low.

Q:

On a human, in a human level in a sense?

Heiskell:

Very low. Oh yeah, very low. He couldn't stand criticism. Very few presidents can.

Q:

Did you meet with him ever?

Heiskell:

With Kennedy? Slightly. A couple of times. A matter of fact, I saw him the day before he was shot. I met with him. We were in Miami at the Board of the Inter-American Press Association. And I think I told you this story. Yes, I did. And then the next, noon, he was no more.

Of course, Johnson had his bear hug on you every time you got within reach of his arms.
