Oh, yes! You know, my friends at the Herald Tribune said: “You're crazy, going there. That's going to go under in six months!” And I said: “Yes, but I asked my boss where I'd be at the Herald Tribune in three years and he said: ‘If you're very good you'll be making $40 a week.’ So, I make $40 a week now, the day I started LIFE.”

Q:

Was there any talk, even though he'd long since been dead when you arrived, of Briton Hadden?

Heiskell:

Totally unaware of him.

No talk.

The only person who might have said something would be Noel Busch, who was his cousin. Yes.
