Q:

But what else did he bring to you and say: “Let's buy this.”

Heiskell:

God, I think he even talked about buying Champion at one point.

Q:

[laughter] To get back at this guy?

Heiskell:

What else? Oh, I can't remember. But Arthur would wake up in the morning thinking that he, or Time Inc., should buy something or the other.

Q:

Do you think--

Heiskell:

And usually he forgot about it.

Q:

In that sense do you think he had a large influence on the corporation? I mean, after all, in 1979, those three acquisitions did take place: ATC, The Star, and Inland. Do you think he kind of brought an acquisition spirit to the corporation, more than what had been?

Heiskell:

Well, no--ATC really, on ATC he didn't--

Q:

He didn't have any?

Heiskell:

He didn't have any. [pause] No. Well--I guess he
