I said, “Why, Mr. President, have you seen it already?”

“Oh no, I haven't seen it because they've only got it in rough form.”

I said, “Davis is putting it in order and they expect to bring their final report in to you in a body tomorrow. If you were in town they would have come on Monday, but they're coming in on Tuesday morning. I've made the date with McIntyre for them to come in and present this report to you.”

“Oh,” he said, “don't bother with that. I know all about it. They don't need to come. I know all about this report. What's more, I've got the lowdown on every one of these people. They are the funniest bunch. They really are a weird lot. What they saw! Ha, ha, I've got it on them. But the report's all right. It's really fine, just splendid.”

I said, “Now, Mr. President, what do you know about that report, and how could you know about it? I know that the report is not complete. It was in rough form. They
