The Americans were put up in the Hotel California in the Rue DuBarry, Right opposite us were the offices of the Herald Tribune and a police station, and a few others-- fire department, I think, things of that sort. But it was a very good hotel, not one of the elegant hotels, but a very good substantial hotel. Not as elegant as the George V, where the military personnel all put up, by the way. The George V-- they all were there. For the I.L.O. it was thought good enough if we went to the California, where visiting Americans who had no status but had permission to come to Paris and had passports were all there. All Americans were put up in the Hotel California, unless they were military personnel, in which case they went to the George V.
