Stanton:

Be more precise--about what?

Q:

The Communications Decency Act was recently passed.

Stanton:

Decency?

Q:

Yes.

Stanton:

Oh. Scares the hell out of me.

Q:

So you would agree with the ACLU that this is dangerous.

Stanton:

It's very bad.

Q:

Those were two Democrats that put up that bill [James Exon and Slade Gordon].

Stanton:

Yes. Oh, you're going to get a lot of that. My experience with Pastore is going to be, you know, sweetness and light by comparison with what you're going to get. If the Christian broadcasters become active there'll be an effort made to--and the audience goes to the salacious and the sensational, the people who think they're doing the right kind of broadcasting will appeal to their Congressmen to get these other guys out of their way. Oh, it's going to be a mess. Have you looked at any of that stuff on cable?

Q:

No, can't say that I have.
