It's getting close to twelve.

Stanton:

Oh, it is?

Q:

Yes. But I wanted to ask you one more question about--Did she have particular philanthropies she liked to give money to, or did you, in tandem, have particular things you liked to give your money to--organizations or causes?

Stanton:

Because of her interest in the theatre, she was very supportive of Lincoln Center. She was also supportive of the Metropolitan. She had a very good experience with Roosevelt Hospital and was agreeable to giving money there. I guess that's it. Oh, there were Negroid things and things of that kind--there's a school across the street [Nightingale-Banford], etc. But there was no--She never wanted to take a position on a non-profit board because, she said, “You know, the only reason they want me is because I'm your wife. I've got other things I can do with my time.” But Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan, Roosevelt Hospital. There was a fourth one, and the reason I know there were four is that we set up trust funds for her brother and my brother and their wives, and when those funds are depleted, or not depleted but when those funds are no longer operative, whatever is left in them is to go in four parts to the--Now I can't think what the fourth one is, but--Oh. Hospitals--I can't think--There's a fourth one. The Metropolitan, Lincoln Center, the hospital--

But, as I said on the tape, when Bert was coming to his hundredth birthday, even though she had no respect for the people in that department, she had great love and respect
