Stanton:

How late did you stay with the election?

Q:

I stayed up until, I think about 1:30.

Stanton:

Oh, you did?

Q:

Yes. I wanted to see all the returns, you know, the D'Amato-Abrams returns came in late.

Stanton:

I was sorry to see Bill Green get beat.

Q:

Yes.

Stanton:

Although Maloney -- that's her name, isn't it -- is absolutely first class. I just thought Bill had done a good job, and I thought he got out of it -- he got boxed in by the redistricting, pushing him partly over into Queens. But -- the D'Amato thing, I was pulling so for Abrams --

Q:

I was, too.

Stanton:

And -- but I didn't stay up. I went over to Channel 13, because Bill Baker had asked me to come by -- they had a little bit of a party at the end of the night. But I had a friend that I was going to spend the evening with and I took her over there and then I went to dinner, and I came back and I was so discouraged by the way that things were going -- I just said “It's so clear what's going to happen” -- so I went to bed. And maybe I, my head --
