 | Assoc. Prof. Ozgur Sahin receives NIH Director's New Innovator Award |
We are delighted to report that Associate Professor Ozgur Sahin is the recipient of an NIH Director's New Innovator Award. This
prestigious award from the National Institutes of Health supports exceptionally
promising early-career scientists whose research is both unusually creative and
is poised to have "a significant impact on an important biomedical or
behavioral research problem."
Ozgur is an Associate Professor in both the
Department of Biological Sciences and Department of Physics. His research
focuses on biological systems that function under physical extremes, such as
short timescales, confinement to nanoregions of space, and intense mechanical
forces. This research offers insight into a wide range of medical-,
environmental-, and energy-related problems.
The NIH Director's New Innovator Award offers
support of up to $1.5 million over a period of 5 years. It is intended to help stimulate highly innovative research and to
support promising early stage investigators.
Congratulations, Ozgur!
