Xiaoyin (Robert) Chen selected as the winner of the 2012-13 Kavli Institute Award for Distinguished Research in Neuroscience

Robert took innovative approaches to the study of C. elegans touch receptor neurons

Robert Chen has been selected as the winner of the 2012-13 Kavli Award for Distinguished Research in Neuroscience at Columbia University. Robert was a doctoral student in the Department of Biological Sciences, and completed his work in the lab of Martin Chalfie.

In Robert's thesis, entitled "Modulation of touch sensitivity in Caenorhabditis elegans," he studied the role of focal adhesion proteins in touch receptor neurons.

For the near future, Robert will continue to work in Dr. Chalfie's lab as a postdoctoral fellow in order to complete ongoing studies.
