AAA – Asian-American Alliance. An umbrella organization for Asian organizations.

ABC – Activities Board at Columbia. The governing board for most recognized student groups. ABC recommends recognition for new groups and determines funding.

AcIS – Academic Information System. Located in the basement of Philosophy Hall. In charge of Columbia’s computing needs.

ARC – Academic Resource Center.

BC – Barnard College.

BSO – Black Student Organization.

CAS – Committee on Academic Standing.

CAVA – Columbia Area Volunteer Ambulance. The student operated volunteer ambulance corps provides 24/7 emergency medical care in the Morningside campus and its surrounding.

CC – Columbia College

CC – Contemporary Civilization. One of the core classes at the Columbia College.

CCSC – Columbia College Student Council.

CLIO – Columbia Libraries Online Catalog. Find books and cheack your account online.

COI – Committee on Instruction.

CPS – Counseling and Psychological Services. Located in Lerner Hall’s 8th floor. Students may schedule an appointment or go to the weekly walk-in hours.

CSC – Chinese Students Club.

CUID – Columbia University Identification.

CULPA – Columbia Underground Listing of Professor Ability. Find out what other students think about Columbia professors.

CUNIX – Columbia's operating system that hosts electronic files, mail, web pages, etc.

DOS – Dean of Students Office.

EC – East Campus. An undergraduate dorm located between Amsterdam Avenue and Morningside Drive.

ESC – Engineering Student Council. The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Sciences student government.

GS – The School General Studies.

GSAS – Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

IAB – International Affairs Building. Located on East Campus.

ISSO - International Students and Scholars Office.

JTS – Jewish Theological Seminary. A Columbia affiliate. Offers a joint degree program with GS.

KSA – Korean Student Association.

PBMB – Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program.

PIN – Personal Identification Number.

SEAS – School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

SIPA – School of International and Public Affairs. Located in the International Affairs Building on East Campus. Offers programs in international affairs and public policy and administration.

SGA – Student Government Association. Barnard’s student government.

SGB – Student Governing Board. The governing board for student organizations whose concerns are religious, spiritual, political, ideological, and activist in nature.

SOL – Student Organization of Latinos.

SSOL - Student Services Online.

TC – Teacher’s College. A Columbia affiliate. Located at 120th between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue.

UAH – University Apartment Housing. The office in charge of housing for faculty, graduate students and GS students.

UNDC – GS undergrad (undeclared).

UNI – Your CUNIX ID that allows you access to Columbia electronic resources.

URH – University Residence Hall – The office in charge of undergraduate dorms (CC, ESC and BC students only).
