You took a sixteen day swing through China. You were on it, Donovan, Shepley, and Linen.

Heiskell:

Not China.

Q:

Excuse me, Vietnam.

Heiskell:

Vietnam.

Q:

Yes.

Heiskell:

Yeah, yes.

Q:

Um, and General Creighton-

Heiskell:

Creighton Abrams.

Q:

Abrams. Was that the one, the news tour you're talking about?

Heiskell:

Yes. That was in 1969, was it? That was before, that was just before Nixon. Yes, just before Nixon, and I always remember we got a briefing from Abrams and his top people. And while he was remained relatively optimistic, he said quite flatly that the Vietcong were able to get into South Vietnam. There wasn't anything we could do to stop them. They had this tunnel system which we
