got on well but they were not close. They didn't visit with each other much. I don't suppose that Clare would have gotten on with Margo Larsen very well, [?] may have something to do with it. As a matter of fact, Clare didn't get on with any woman because she didn't appreciate--she really thought of herself as a man. She was on the hand, a beautiful woman, on the other hand, mentally she considered herself to be a man, and acted accordingly at dinners when the gentlemen would retire to the smoking room, smoke cigars, she retired with the gentlemen. Surely, it absolutely drove them crazy!

Q:

So, she was contemptuous of women?

Heiskell:

Yes.

Q:

That's your understanding?

Heiskell:

Yes.

Q:

One last question about Luce. Do you know how he felt about the choice of his successor, i.e. [Hedley] Donovan, if he was satisfied--?

Heiskell:

Oh, he felt great.

He did.

Oh, yes. No question. He picked the right person, no
