[Adlai E.] Stevenson the second time that he ran. I voted for Johnson against [Barry] Goldwater. I can't even think who Nixon ran against.
Kennedy.
Oh. I voted for Nixon. And --
What was there about -- what decided you in the race of Nixon against Kennedy.
Severe difficulties that I had with both Jack Kennedy and Bob [Robert F.] Kennedy in the campaign. The behavior of Bobby Kennedy vis a vis CBS was such that I just couldn't see -- and I'm talking more about Bobby now than I was about Jack although Jack wasn't any particular friend to free speech either. But Bobby particularly wanted to tell us what correspondents could cover them on the trail, on the campaign trail, wanted to dictate our behavior in press conferences. Not just CBS alone. I'm talking about the press in general, but more particularly --

Sure. He wanted to be as close to us as he could to get all the -- I don't blame any candidate for wanting to get as much help and information as he can get. But once you say no, then I get a little nervous when they try to use, you know, stiff arm tactics to achieve their ends.
