AMBULATORY BLOCK

The overarching goals are as stated in training overview.

This month will focus on Early Childhood and the pediatrician's role in Community-Based Health Education.

Early Childhood:
By the end of this month pediatric residents will:

• understand the importance of early childhood support in optimizing child and family health.
• learn about the benefits of breastfeeding and be able to support a family who chooses to do so.
• learn about community-based program and federal entitlements that support families of young children.
• learn how the home environment and the family’s culture has an impact on a child’s health and well being.

- WIC


Community-Based Health Education:

This month is an opportunity for residents to develop their skills as health educators in community settings.
