Kermit - What's New

New York City

READ THIS FIRST...  This is the original Kermit Project site and it houses all the Kermit software created between 1981 and 2011; you can find all of it in the Archive page. The large majority of Kermit programs have not changed since 2011, but four of them continue in active development at the new Open-Source Kermit Project: C-Kermit for Unix; G-Kermit for Unix; E-Kermit for embedding; and Kermit 95 for Windows.

2021: This site extensively revised due to "deprecation" of FTP protocol

In April and May of 2021, the major Web browsers dropped support for FTP links (traditionally used for downloading files from Web sites); thus thousands of links at this site ceased to function. Work is in progress on converting the FTP links to HTTP links.   [More about this]   [Progress]

The Kermit Project at Columbia University was cancelled effective 1 July 2011

The Columbia University Kermit Project website is frozen effective 1 October 2011, but remains available as a public resource. A new Kermit Project website has been established outside of Columbia at www.kermitproject.org for the continued development of C-Kermit, G-Kermit, E-Kermit, and Kermit 95.
