W3040y - Project Lab in Developmental Biology

Project Lab in Developmental Biology 5 pts. The Spring 2009 project involves the characterization of the transcription factors that are integral in driving zebrafish GATA-4 expression in the heart. Topics covered include heart development, sequence analysis, molecular biology (PCR, restriction digest, etc.), cell culture (maintenance and transfections) and promoter analysis (binding site analysis, mutational analysis, and luciferase assays). Prerequisite: Introductory Biology. Limited to 12 students. Preference is given to students majoring in biology, biochemistry and biophysics. Fee: $150
