In Process or Ordered Items

If a book has the call number or status in process you may request rush processing of the item, using this online form:

This form is also available from the "Recall / Other Requests" button on the CLIO tool bar.

How to request items

All Columbia faculty, students and staff with library borrowing privileges and active e-mail accounts are eligible to use the online form. Others may place paper requests at a reference or circulation desk.

What may be requested

Books from circulating collections may be checked-out from Butler Circulation desk, or from the owning departmental library. Books from non-circulating collections will be available for in-library use only. Do not use this form for volumes of sets or serials, request assistance at a reference or circulation desk.

Availability and turnaround time

In Process items will normally be available at the Butler Circulation desk in 1-3 business days or you may choose to pick-up the item at the departmental library in 5-10 working days.

Ordered items may not be available for several months. You may request these through Borrow Direct or Interlibrary Loan.

Notification and pick-up of items

You will receive an email notice at your Columbia e-mail address when the material is available and being held for you.

Loan Period

Items will have the same loan period as items circulating from the owning library.

PreCat

Request items with a PreCat location in person at the Butler Circulation desk.   They will be paged for you and available the same day.
